Otley Athletic Club climbed The Chevin 48 times in 24 hours, raising £15k for cancer charity.

In a 24‑hour endurance challenge called ‘Cheverest’, runners from Otley Athletic Club collected 48 ascents of The Chevin hill in West Yorkshire. The total climb matched the height of Mount Everest at 8,848 m, creating a symbolic link between the local hill’s 207 m slope and the world’s tallest peak. The feat, completed on 20 January 2026, raised £15,000 for a local cancer charity, supporting research and patient care. The event drew local media attention and highlighted community spirit, encouraging further charitable endeavors across the region.
