Yellow Weather Warning for England Amid Ongoing Flood Risk

On 31 January 2026 Sky News reports a yellow weather warning covering the South West from Monday midday until 9 am Tuesday, following the major incident declared in Somerset after Storm Chandra flooded about 50 properties. 57 government flood warnings and 117 alerts are in place as of 7 pm Saturday. 10‑20 mm of rainfall is possible widely, with up to 30‑50 mm over Dartmoor in Devon. Previous heavy rain left thousands in Cornwall without power, and the warning flags potential flooding, drainage hazards, and possible coastal high‑water on Wednesday. A sudden stratospheric warming event is also possible in February, raising winter risk.
