Yellow Rain Warning Extended Across England – Flood Risk
Met Office extends yellow warning as heavy rain and strong winds threaten flooding in southern England.

On Thursday 15 January 2026 the Met Office rolled out an extended yellow weather warning across southern England, forecasting 20‑30 mm of rain with isolated pockets of 40‑50 mm, and gusts up to 50 mph. The forecast includes London, the South, the Midlands, South West and eastern England, warning of surface‑water flooding on saturated ground and possible road closures. The Environment Agency has issued three flood warnings and 43 flood alerts covering the country. The alert follows a major incident in Kent and Sussex that left roughly 30 000 properties without water after burst pipes and power cuts. Storm Goretti last week had already damaged infrastructure and caused a red wind warning. Rail and bus services may experience delays.
