The trial in Milton Superior Court of Becky Hamber, 46, and her wife Brandy Cooney, 44, accused of murdering their 12‑year‑old foster son L.L., wrapped its proceedings on Jan. 23, 2024. L.L. was found unconscious, wet and emaciated in their Burlington basement on Dec. 21, 2022, after a 911 call that prosecutors presented in court. Hamber described the boy as having ‘blue lips’ and being unable to wake. The Crown, led by Kelli Frew, charged the couple with murder, confinement, assault with a weapon (zip ties) and failure to provide necessities of life for his younger brother J.L., now 13. Closing submissions are set for March 23 and 27.
