On the early morning of 11 January 2026 a head‑on crash on Wigan Road in Bolton, Greater Manchester, left four dead and five injured. A red Seat Leon collided with a Citroën C4 Picasso taxi around 12.50 am. The Seat driver and two passengers – all men aged 18–19 – were named locally as Mohammed Jibrael Mukhtar, Farhan Patel and Muhammad Danyaal Asghar Ali. The taxi driver, Mosrab Ali, in his 50s, was also named. All four were pronounced dead at the scene; five other passengers were taken to hospital. Greater Manchester Police, led by Chief Inspector Helen McCormick, along with the Fire and Rescue Service, attended swiftly, while the BCoM supported families and urged witnesses to come forward. Local officials described the scene as devastating and challenging for emergency staff, and the investigation will continue under the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
