Uvalde School Shooting: 173 Shots Fired Before Officer Enters

Salvador Ramos opened fire on Feb. 14, 2024, at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Between 11:32 a.m. and 11:35 a.m. he fired 173 rounds, killing 19 students and two teachers. Officer Adrián Gonzales, a former school‑district police officer, parked his car at 11:31 a.m., reported the active‑shooter at 11:32 a.m., and entered the school at 11:35 a.m., 3 min 53 s after parking. Gonzales testified he had more than a minute to stop the shooter outside; law‑enforcement fired 25 rounds. Prosecutors charge him with child endangerment, arguing failure in response; Gonzales pleaded not guilty. The trial, held at Nueces County Courthouse in Corpus Christi, began Jan. 13, 2026, and examines the delays that contributed to the tragedy.
