On Sunday, 25 January 2026, a colossal winter storm swept the United States from Colorado to New England, leaving 140,000 households without power, including 58,000 in Louisiana and about 50,000 in Texas. The National Weather Service warned that heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain threatened more than 180 million people, affecting 37 states.
