US Ambassador Says Trump Won't Attack Iran

On 12 January 2026, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee told Sky News that Washington had no current military plans to strike Iran, though he said the decision could change if Tehran continued killing protestors. Huckabee, who was nominated by President Donald Trump following his 2024 election, added that any U.S. intervention would come from the president and cabinet. He also blasted Britain, France and other EU states for recognising the State of Palestine on 8 October 2024, calling the move ill‑timed and damaging to the Oslo Accords. The ambassador blamed Hamas for the suffering in Gaza and warned that an Iranian regime collapse could halt funding to Hezbollah, the Houthis and other proxy groups.
