UK weather: Meteorologist warns arctic blast will bring snow and sub-zero temperatures to Britain within days
Arctic air bringing plunging temperatures and widespread snow to Britain in the coming days

Meteorologist John Kettley has warned the UK is set for a sharp shift in weather, with Arctic air bringing plunging temperatures and widespread snow in the days ahead. Kettley said the country is currently experiencing what he described as 'anticyclonic gloom', which will give way to a cold snap bringing sub-zero temperatures across much of Britain. He specifically warned that northern and eastern regions could see significant snowfall, with temperatures potentially dropping below -5°C in some areas. The forecaster noted that the change will be rapid, with Arctic air masses moving south from Scandinavia and Russia. This comes after a relatively mild December, and Kettley emphasized that the sudden temperature drop could catch many Britons off guard. The Met Office has not yet issued weather warnings, but Kettley's warning suggests residents should prepare for potentially hazardous winter weather conditions.
