Betfred brothers top UK’s 2026 tax list, paying £400m as total tax paid reaches £5.758bn.

The Sunday Times released its 2026 Tax List on 1 Feb 2026, showing the top 100 UK taxpayers paid £5.758 bn in 2025, up from £4.985 bn a year earlier. Bill and Peter Done, founders of the Warrington‑based betting company Betfred, topped the chart with £400.1 m in tax, a jump of almost 50 % from last year’s £273.4 m. Second was Alex Gerko (£331.4 m) and third Chris Rokos (£330 m). New entrants included Harry Styles (54th, £24.7 m) and J.K. Rowling (£47.5 m). Football stars Erling Haaland (£16.9 m) and Mo Salah (£14.5 m) were also on the list for the first time.
