UK Ministers Grant £10,000 Emergency Loans to Affected Civil Servants
Delayed civil‑service pensions trigger £10,000 interest‑free loans, ministers say.

In a Thursday briefing, UK treasury ministers announced interest‑free emergency loans of up to £10,000 for senior civil servants whose pension payments have been severely delayed following the Capita takeover of the UK pension servicing system. The loans, which are free of charge, are intended to provide relief to thousands of retirees that have been waiting months for their retirement benefits. The decision comes amid public complaints that the backlog has caused significant financial hardship and, according to ministers, is “completely unacceptable.” The government said it will process the emergency loan applications within the next 48 hours and will work to expedite the resolution of the payment delays. The announcement was made in London at Prime Minister’s office.
