Two men have been charged after an 80-year-old man died when he was struck by a car and carried on its roof.

Kent Police charged Albert Matraxhiu, 28, of Edgware, north London, and Erald Paci, 29, of Chatham, Kent, following a fatal hit-and-run incident in Gillingham. The victim, an 80-year-old pedestrian, was struck by a vehicle on the A289 Gads Hill at around 12:00 PM on Monday, 29 December 2025. The man was carried on the car's roof before being found dead on Grange Road. Matraxhiu was charged with death by dangerous driving, while Paci was charged with perverting the course of justice. Both are Albanian nationals and appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Friday, 2 January 2026. Police released CCTV images showing two individuals fleeing the scene prior to the arrests.
