Thousands Protest ICE Shooting in Minneapolis

On Wednesday, Jan 9, 2026, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents shot and killed 37‑year‑old Renee Nicole Good in her vehicle near Minneapolis’s Powderhorn Park. The fatality sparked a wave of protests that gathered more than 10,000 people in the Twin Cities on Saturday and thousands across the United States, including Washington, D.C., New York, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon, where a separate ICE shooting left two injured on Jan 10. Minneapolis officials warned that illegal behavior could play into President Donald Trump’s hands, while mayor Karin Harris condemned the “buckshot tactics” and called for a transparent investigation. Nearly 30 arrest were made after a hotel protest turned violent. The protests demanded an independent inquiry and an end to ICE operations in cities.
