This athlete's fitness journey will baffle you
Raipur's Nami Rai didn't let marriage or lack of sporting facilities affect her love for fitness.

National-level athlete Nami Rai Parekh, originally from Mangalore, was a silver and bronze medalist in 100m hurdles and 100m relay events. After marrying and relocating to Raipur, Chhattisgarh, she faced a lack of sports facilities, forcing her to abandon competitive athletics. Instead of giving up, the 28-year-old shifted to gym training three years ago, working out for three hours daily six days a week. She maintains a 55 kg physique, eats home-cooked food with adequate protein, and performs advanced exercises like deadlifts up to 130 kg and human flag poles. Nami credits her supportive in-laws and aims to open a world-class fitness center focusing on both physical and mental wellness.
