Teenager Pleads Guilty to Murder of 12‑Year‑Old in Birmingham
A 14‑year‑old admits killing a 12‑year‑old boy on a Hall Green riverside path in January 2025.

A 14‑year‑old Birmingham teenager pleaded guilty to the murder of 12‑year‑old Leo Ross on a riverside path in Hall Green in January 2025. Ross, a student from Christ Church Secondary Academy, was stabbed in the stomach and died after police recovered a knife that matched the wound and found his blood on clothing seized from the boy’s home. The defendant, now 15, had already faced charges for multiple assaults earlier in 2025 and a bladed article possession on the day of the murder. Prosecutors said forensic evidence, CCTV footage and witness statements forced the guilty plea. Sentencing is set for 10 February 2026 at Birmingham Crown Court, with the youth remanded to detention.
