Suspect charged with murder after death of man in Bury on New Year's Eve

Greater Manchester Police have charged Anthony Junior Murray, 25, with murder and possession of a bladed article in connection with the death of a 24-year-old man in Bury on New Year's Eve. Officers responded to reports of a disturbance at Tarn Drive, Bury, at around 11:55 PM on December 31, 2025, and found the victim with injuries consistent with a stabbing. The man died at the scene despite emergency services' efforts. Murray has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Friday, January 2, 2026. A woman in her 20s was also arrested but has been released on bail pending further inquiries. Police continue to seek information and relevant CCTV, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the public.
