Storm Hinders Search for Missing Seven-Year-Old in Morocco

A seven‑year‑old British girl, Inaayah Makda of Blackburn, Lancashire, vanished on 27 January 2026 when a large wave swept her off the rocks at a beach in Casablanca, Morocco. The family reported her disappearance to the BBC, and the search operation has since been underway. On 31 January, MP Adnan Hussain, the independent representative for Blackburn, claimed that the search was being “hindered by a storm,” and urged the Moroccan ambassador to assign a dedicated police liaison officer. Moroccan civil‑protection units and the governor of Casablanca confirmed ongoing operations, while the UK Foreign Office remained in contact. The incident remains unresolved, with authorities seeking any clues to locate Inaayah. If found, she could be among the first recoveries in the region. Officials are also coordinating with the British Consulate for any assistance and are monitoring weather reports to optimise patrols.
