Snowfall expected across UK with yellow warnings for snow and ice across England and Wales on Jan 2.

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice across large parts of England and Wales between midnight and noon on January 2, 2026, with up to 5cm of snowfall possible, especially on higher ground in North Wales and northwest England. Additional yellow warnings cover Northern Ireland from midnight to 10am on Friday and northern Scotland from 6am on New Year's Day through Friday, where 10cm-20cm of snow is expected, with up to 30cm on the highest routes. The UK Health Security Agency has upgraded cold health alerts from yellow to amber across the East Midlands, West Midlands, southeast, southwest, east of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, and London, effective from 8pm on December 31, 2025, until 10am on January 6, 2026. Transport disruptions are anticipated, with longer journey times expected by road, bus, and train.
