Seattle police arrest armed man during New Year's Eve celebration
21-year-old arrested with shotgun and handgun near Space Needle during fireworks.

Seattle police arrested 21-year-old Isaiah James on December 31, 2025, at 7:20 p.m. near the Pacific Science Center and Space Needle during New Year's Eve festivities. Officers responded to reports of a man holding a partially concealed shotgun, which witnesses saw him gripping by the handle near where spectators gathered for fireworks. James, wearing all black clothing and a red hat with 'WAR' written on it, was also armed with a handgun and carrying multiple rounds of ammunition. He possessed a valid concealed carry permit but was arrested without incident for unlawful use of weapons. Police's arson bomb squad searched his vehicle for additional weapons or explosives, finding none. The suspect was booked into King County Jail and detectives referred criminal charges to the City Attorney's Office. The investigation remains ongoing.
