Searching for Ontario’s missing Black boys

The fifth estate investigation reveals that Black boys aged 13‑18 from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) are groomed by adult criminals into drug gangs and shipped up 1,100 km to remote northern communities such as Ginoogaming First Nation. The 200‑person reserve, 68 sq km, lies 3½ hours north of Thunder Bay and has seen nightly shootings, a 2025 fatality, and a state of emergency in 2026. Teens are promised $10,000–$30,000 in weeks, while the GTA unemployment for Black youth reaches 26 %. In 2024, 322 youth were reported missing, nearly half Black, and Project Sunder in 2020 led to a 13‑year sentence for gang leader V‑Dizzle. Police and activists seek human‑trafficking charges, citing the exploitative, age‑based control of the boys.
