Sadiq Khan set to provide major update on plans to BAN all cars from popular London hotspot
London Mayor Sadiq Khan will brief on car ban for Oxford Street.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, is scheduled to give an official briefing on the proposed ban of all private motor vehicles from Oxford Street, one of the city's busiest shopping corridors. The plan would permanently prohibit private cars, with exemptions for emergency service and delivery vehicles to maintain public safety and supply chains. A consultation on the measures is currently open, and drivers and businesses have only a few hours left to submit their responses before the deadline set for the end of 2026. Khan’s next update aims to clarify the scope, enforcement strategy and timelines, and it is expected to be announced early next week in a joint briefing with transport officials.
