On 1 February 2026, a Russian combat drone struck a bus transporting mineworkers in the southeastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro (Dnipro region). The attack killed at least 12 people and wounded several others, according to the Ukrainian emergency service that reported a fire that was extinguished by firefighters. Energy firm DTEK and Minister Denys Shmyhal described the strike as a ‘massive terrorist attack’ on an energy‑sector site. Earlier that night Ukrainian forces recorded 90 Russian drones, with 14 hitting nine locations. Russian defence ministry announced that its forces used weapons against transport infrastructure and claimed to have shot down 21 Ukrainian drones. Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that trilateral talks with the US and Russia will take place on 4‑5 February in Abu Dhabi.
