Robert Moreno Sacked by FC Sochi After AI Order
Spain coach Robert Moreno sacked by FC Sochi after ordering players to stay awake 28 hours via AI.

Former Spain national team manager Robert Moreno was dismissed by Russian First League club FC Sochi on 24 Jan 2026 after revelations that he had ordered his squad to remain awake for 28 hours during preparations for a home fixture, citing advice from the AI chatbot ChatGPT. Moreno, who had taken over Sochi after his own departure from Spain’s national side in 2024, reportedly relied on ChatGPT for tactical plans, player selection and in‑game adjustments. The decision followed fans’ and club officials’ shock at the unconventional tactics, and a subsequent club statement said the coach’s approach was inconsistent with team values and the required professionalism for a First League side. FC Sochi announced a new manager would be appointed on 27 Jan 2026.
