Reform MSP opens door with rivals to form electoral pact to oust SNP

Scotland's sole Reform UK representative at Holyrood, MSP Alexander Burnett, has hinted that Nigel Farage could form an electoral pact with rival parties to oust the SNP in the May 2026 Scottish Parliament elections. Burnett suggested that Reform, Scottish Labour, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats could coordinate to maximize anti-SNP votes. Scottish Labour deputy leader Jackie Baillie immediately refuted the suggestion, stating Labour would not form any electoral pact and would fight to win the election outright. The SNP currently holds 62 of 129 seats in the Scottish Parliament. Burnett's comments come amid speculation about Farage's political future following Reform UK's poor performance in the July 2024 general election, where the party won only four seats. Farage has previously ruled out any electoral pacts.
