Queen Camilla Reveals Train Assault at 17, Calls for Domestic Abuse Awareness

Queen Camilla revealed for the first time that she was sexually assaulted by a stranger on a train when she was 17 years old. In an interview with BBC Radio 4's Today programme recorded at Clarence House on November 26, 2025, she described fighting back against the attacker and remembered feeling "so angry" about the incident that "lurked for many years." The Queen shared the story during a discussion about domestic abuse with BBC broadcaster Emma Barnett, former Prime Minister Theresa May, and BBC racing commentator John Hunt and his daughter Amy, whose family was murdered by Louise Hunt's ex-partner Kyle Clifford in July 2024. Camilla said the experience informed her decade-long advocacy work supporting sexual assault and domestic abuse survivors. The revelation follows details from journalist Valentine Low's 2025 book Power And The Palace, which first disclosed that Camilla told then-London Mayor Boris Johnson in 2008 she had hit her attacker with her shoe heel.
