Putin Invited to Join US-Led Gaza Peace Council
Kremlin says President Putin is reviewing an invitation to join a US‑led Gaza peace board.
On 19 January 2026, the Kremlin announced that President Vladimir Putin has received an invitation through diplomatic channels to join a United States‑led “Peace Council” for Gaza. The board, unveiled by the White House on Friday (20 January 2026), aims to supervise Gaza’s transitional administration. Donald Trump will chair the executive board, with US special envoy Steve Witkoff, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and former British prime minister Sir Tony Blair also on the roster. Putin is reportedly studying the proposal, while other countries such as Kazakhstan, Hungary and Vietnam have already accepted. The United States has invited 60 countries to the board, offering permanent membership for $1 bn (£747 million).
