Police seek man wanted in fatal shootings of 3 in small Australian town
Police urge residents of Lake Cargelligo to stay indoors amid search for suspect in 3‑person fatal shooting.

On 23 January 2026, police in Lake Cargelligo, a 1,100‑person community in New South Wales, called for residents to stay indoors while they searched for Julian Ingram – 37 , a prisoner on bail for domestic‑violence offences. Ingram is charged with killing 25‑year‑old Sophie Quinn, her 32‑year‑old friend John Harris and her 50‑year‑old aunt Nerida Quinn during a domestic‑violence‑related shoot‑out. A 19‑year‑old victim sustained serious, stable injuries. More than 100 police and army units were mobilised. Ingram had a prior criminal record and had complied with bail conditions, yet authorities question how he obtained a firearm without a license. The incident follows the December Bondi Beach mass shooting that prompted new gun restrictions in Parliament.
