Police Officer Pays Tribute To Wife And Children After Boxing Day House Fire

Police officer Tom Shearman has paid tribute to his wife Fionnghuala (Nu) and their two children, Eve and Ohner, who tragically died in a house fire on Brimscombe Hill, Stroud, on Boxing Day 2025. The fire broke out around 3am in their mid-terrace Cotswold stone cottage, destroying the roof, ceilings and stairs. Mr Shearman was hospitalized but discharged after attempting to rescue his family. The family's pet dog Hutch also died. An online fundraiser for Mr Shearman has raised over £300,000. In a statement shared by Gloucestershire Constabulary, he vowed to continue his wife's legacy of craft and design, his daughter's love of books and writing, and his son's compassion for helping others. Police confirmed the fire, which started on the ground floor, is being treated as a tragic accident, not suspicious.
