Poilievre to Seek Riding; Kurek Reclaims Battle River‑Crowfoot
Pierre Poilievre will not run in Battle River‑Crowfoot but will seek a different riding for the next federal election.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre will not contest the Ball River‑Crowfoot seat in the upcoming federal election and will instead look for a new riding. He lost his longtime Carleton seat in Ontario to Liberal Bruce Fanjoy in April 2026. The party has confirmed Damien Kurek, the former MP who won the Battle River‑Crowfoot byelection last year, will run again. Kurek relinquished the seat to allow Poilievre’s brief win in a byelection, where he captured just over 80 % of the vote and the largest federal ballot ever, with 214 candidates. The CPC exempted Kurek from a formal nomination process, ensuring his return to Parliament.
