Palestine Action Prisoner Hospitalised After 58‑Day Hunger Strike

Kamran Ahmed, 28, a remand prisoner with Palestine Action, was taken to hospital for the fifth time after 58 days of hunger strike at HMP Pentonville in north London. The strike is part of a protest by four detainees who argue that their pre‑trial detention has exceeded the UK’s six‑month limit. Other hunger strikers include Heba Muraisi (day 65), Lewie Chiaramello (day 60) and Teuta Hoxha, who has paused her protest after a rapid health decline. Birmingham neurologist Dr David Nicholl warned that prolonged fasting can cause re‑feeding syndrome and permanent neurological damage. The prisoners demand that Palestine Action be de‑proscribed, that the UK stop funding weapons suppliers to Israel, and that they receive bail or transfer to local prisons.
