O'Neill Urges 2030 Unity Referendum in Northern Ireland
O'Neill calls for a 2030 unity referendum in Northern Ireland, calling Brexit a mistake.

Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O'Neill said on the Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips show that her government will push for a unity referendum by 2030, giving voters the chance to decide their political future. O'Neill said "now is the time for the plan and preparation" and accused Brexit of being an economic self‑harm done against the wishes of the people. Her call to a border poll contrasts with remarks from Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin, who said the Republic would not hold a poll before 2030. Deputy First Minister Emma Little Pengelly, a unionist, added that nationalist and republican vote shares have not risen since 1998, suggesting limited popular momentum for a breakup. The full interviews will air at 8:30 am Sunday.
