One Nation Tops Coalition in Newspoll, Labor Remains Strong

In the latest national Newspoll (Jan 12–15, 1,224 respondents), the Australian Labor Party maintains a comfortable lead over the Coalition, with a 55‑45 two‑party spread and a primary vote of 32 %. One Nation rises sharply to 22 %, edging the Coalition’s 21 % for the first time in a poll. Resolve’s parallel survey (Jan 12–16, 1,800 respondents) shows Labor ahead 52‑48, while primary votes fall to 30 % for Labor, 28 % for the Coalition and 18 % for One Nation. The upswing for One Nation follows the Bondi terror attacks, which has dented Labor’s popularity (Albanese’s net approval slumped to −11). The data suggests the Coalition may slide to third place in forthcoming elections.
