In a December 27, 2025 segment on ABC News' Good Morning America, veterinarian Dr. Adam Christman outlined five practical New Year's resolutions for pet owners. The recommendations included: scheduling annual veterinary check-ups including dental exams, adding mental stimulation like puzzle toys and training, increasing daily exercise with at least 30 minutes of walks and playtime, maintaining a consistent healthy diet to prevent obesity, and strengthening the human-animal bond through quality time. Christman emphasized that these achievable goals can significantly improve pets' health and longevity, noting that 85% of dogs over age 3 have dental disease and that obesity affects 59% of dogs and 61% of cats in the US. The segment aired as part of GMA's Living section and was produced by ABC News' New York bureau.
