New Year Honours: Idris Elba, Torvill and Dean, and Lionesses among those recognised
Actors, athletes and community champions honored in 2025 New Year Honours list
The 2025 New Year Honours list recognizes 1,157 people including Sir Idris Elba (knighthood for young people services), Dame Jayne Torvill and Sir Christopher Dean (for ice skating), and England's Lionesses football team after their Euro victory. Captain Leah Williamson receives a CBE while players Alex Greenwood, Keira Walsh, Georgia Stanway, and Ella Toone become MBEs. Manager Sarina Wiegman gets an honorary damehood. England's Rugby World Cup winners including Marlie Packer and Zoe Aldcroft receive OBEs. Entertainment honorees include Richard Osman, Warwick Davis (OBE), Meera Syal (Dame), and Cynthia Erivo (MBE). The oldest recipient is 102-year-old John Hearn (BEM for Judo), while the youngest is 20-year-old Olympic climber Toby Roberts (MBE).
