Nestle Baby Formula Recall Hits Family

In early January 2026, the UK Food Standards Agency found the heat‑resistant toxin cereulide in more than 60 batches of Nestle SMA baby formula, prompting a voluntary recall on 5 January. Rhys Edwards, from Jersey, had fed his five‑month‑old son tins of the recalled formula; the infant fell ill, vomiting and dehydrating, and required multiple hospital stays. Although no illnesses have been conclusively linked to the recalled batches, the incident has spurred calls for better safety checks. The contamination stems from an oil supplied by a third‑party that Nestle and Danone both use; Danone also recalled a batch of Aptamil. Edwards insists parents deserve clear answers and higher quality assurance.
