On Jan. 24 2026, CBC reports that the U.S. Justice Department still has about 2 million Epstein files that have not been released, a month after the December 19, 2025 deadline set by a law signed by President Donald Trump in November 2025. The DOJ says 400 lawyers are reviewing the documents to protect victim identities and redact sensitive material. In December, 12,285 files—including emails, photographs of Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, Bill Clinton, and alleged abuse images—were released. Congress, led by Rep. Robert Garcia, Rep. Thomas Massie, and Rep. Ro Khanna, is pressuring the DOJ for a timetable, while a judge denied an independent monitor petition. The remaining documents remain classified, with the client list reportedly absent.
