Michael van Gerwen was left furious with his performance after crashing out of the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace on Tuesday, suffering a 4-1 defeat to Gary Anderson in the last 16. The former world No 1 and three-time champion struggled throughout the match, expressing visible frustration at his scoring. Anderson dominated the contest, winning the opening set 3-1 before sealing victory with a 4-1 win in the final set. The loss marks a significant early exit for van Gerwen, who had been expected to challenge for the title. Anderson advances to the quarter-finals where he will face either Luke Littler or Chris Dobey. The match took place at Alexandra Palace in London on December 30, 2025.
