McLaren driver gets six‑month ban after motorhome crash on A12.

Oliver Strickland‑Miller, 41, of Ringshall, Suffolk, drove a McLaren 720S that cost over £200,000 when he lost control on the A12 near Lower Hacheston on 12 November 2023. The high‑performance car, able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, collided with a motorhome, causing the road to close for a brief period. Minor injuries were reported. After pleading guilty to careless driving, Strickland‑Miller was sentenced at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 21 January 2026, receiving a six‑month driving ban and a requirement to attend a driver‑improvement course. Police Constable William Hudson noted the crash was fortunate that no serious injuries occurred, stressing the importance of safe driving.
