Mandelson denies $75k Epstein payments amid testimony push
Lord Mandelson claims no recollection of $75k Epstein payments amid growing calls to testify.

On 1 Feb 2026 the UK media reported that former Labour minister Peter Mandelson denied any recollection of receiving three US‑dollar cheques totalling $75,000 (£54,000) from Jeffrey Epstein, as per a new batch of U.S. Department of Justice documents. The payments, dated 14 May 2003, 24 June 2004 and 30 June 2004, were sent into UK bank accounts in the name of Mandelson’s partner Reinaldo Avila da Silva and Mandelson himself. Mandelson’s spokesman said no records existed and called the paperwork “full of formatting and factual errors.” The revelations have prompted Housing Secretary Steve Reed and political figures such as Trevor Phillips and Prime Minister Keir Starmer to urge the peer to testify before U.S. Congress, while Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor faces similar scrutiny.
