'Labour is killing this country!' Keir Starmer scolded as staggering migrant figures record second-highest year
Keir Starmer faces backlash after 2025 migrant figures show the second-highest yearly total on record.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer has been criticised after Home Office figures revealed 2025 saw the second-highest number of illegal Channel crossings since records began, with 28,652 migrants arriving in small boats. The total represents a 15% decrease from 2024's record 33,782 but remains the second-highest annual figure on record. Notably, no migrants made the crossing on New Year's Eve, compared to 11 in 2024. The figures come amid ongoing Labour government efforts to curb migration, including the Rwanda policy and new immigration legislation. Critics argue the numbers demonstrate Labour's failure to control borders despite pre-election promises. The data shows 2025's total was 29% higher than 2023's 22,200 crossings and 48% higher than 2022's 19,336. The government continues to face pressure over its handling of the migrant crisis.
