Kidlington Fly‑Tipping: Two Men Arrested Over 60m Waste Dump
Two men arrested after a 60 m high rubbish pile was dumped near Kidlington, Oxfordshire.

In late January 2026, authorities uncovered a gigantic illegal waste dump near Kidlington in Oxfordshire, a site between the River Cherwell and the A34. The pile, estimated to be 60 m long, 15 m wide and 10 m high, contained thousands of tonnes of rubbish. Investigators from the Environmental Agency (EA) and Thames Valley Police arrested two men – a 69‑year‑old from Andover and a 54‑year‑old from Slough – on environmental and money‑laundering charges. Both were released on conditional bail. The removal of the waste is projected to cost more than the council’s £25 million annual budget. Environment Secretary Emma Reynolds said the dumping is “appalling” and warned of potential toxin spills into the Cherwell and larger Thames catchment. The case highlights the growing threat of organised waste‑crime gangs in Britain.
