Joshua Johnson, 18, died in a collision on Todwick Road, Rotherham, on 13 Dec 2025. South Yorkshire Police initially identified the victim as 17‑year‑old Trevor Wynn, who was later found to be alive. The mix‑up caused the family to believe Joshua survived, leading to a tragic miscommunication. SYP has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) after forensic checks confirmed the error. An 18‑year‑old was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, and a 19‑year‑old on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. The investigation aims to prevent future incidents.
