Kashmiri shawl seller attacked in Himachal Pradesh amid ongoing safety concerns for traders
J&K Students Association (JKSA) has condemned a fresh attack on a Kashmiri shawl seller in Himachal Pradesh, marking the 16th such incident targeting Kashmiri traders in the state in 2025. Jehangir Ahmad, a 15-year resident of Kangra district's Dehra area, was allegedly assaulted by unidentified individuals, suffering fractures and multiple injuries requiring hospitalization. The association, led by national convenor Nasir Khuehami, called for immediate action from Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, demanding protection for Kashmiri traders. In a related development, JKSA also reported harassment of a Kashmiri shawl seller in Kaithal, Haryana, with Haryana CM's media advisor Rajeev Jaitly assuring strict action against such violence. National Conference chief spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq described the incidents as 'deeply disturbing and unacceptable,' demanding safety guarantees for Kashmiris living outside Jammu and Kashmir.
