Jesy Nelson’s Twins: Mother Spotting SMA Condition
Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson thanks her mum for spotting SMA in her twins.

Jesy Nelson, 34 and former Little Mix front‑woman, revealed in a Sky News interview that her twin girls were diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy type 1 (SMA 1) only at six months old, after multiple GP visits that failed to detect the condition. Despite being called “absolutely fine” by doctors following three check‑ups, it was Nelson’s mother who first noticed the babies’ lack of leg movement and urged medical attention. The twins now require feeding tubes and are underweight. Nelson met with Health Secretary Wes Streeting to push for broader SME awareness, pledging to keep spotlighting the disease on social media and the news. The interview aired on 29 Jan 2026 on Sky News’ “The UK Tonight.”
