Isiah Whitlock Jr., best known for playing corrupt councilman Clay Davis on HBO's The Wire, has died at age 71.

Isiah Whitlock Jr., who portrayed the openly corrupt city councilman Clay Davis on HBO's critically acclaimed series 'The Wire', has died at age 71. Whitlock Jr. appeared in 25 episodes across all five seasons of the crime drama from 2002 to 2008, becoming a fan favorite for his character's trademark expression 'sheee-it'. His manager confirmed his passing, stating, 'If you knew him - you loved him'. Beyond 'The Wire', Whitlock Jr. had notable roles in Spike Lee films including '25th Hour', 'BlacKkKlansman', and 'Da 5 Bloods', and played Secretary of Defense George Maddox in HBO's 'Veep' for three seasons from 2013 to 2015. He also appeared in films like 'Goodfellas' and 'Gremlins 2: The New Batch'.
