Hundreds Rally in Milan to Block ICE at Winter Olympics
Hundreds gather in Milan's Piazza XXV Aprile to protest ICE's planned Olympic presence.

On 31 January 2026, hundreds converged in Milan’s Piazza XXV Aprile to oppose the deployment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) staff at the 2026 Winter Games. The protest, echoing U.S. anti‑ICE demonstrations, featured whistles, Bruce Springsteen songs, and banners reading “Never again” and “Ice only in Spritz.” The Olympic Games will run from 6 to 22 February in Milan and the alpine resort of Cortina d’Ampezzo. U.S. officials J.D. Vance and Marco Rubio are slated to attend the opening ceremony. The protest was joined by ANPI groups celebrating Italy’s partisan resistance from 1945.
