Wesley Beynon, a 32‑year‑old resident of Merthyr Tydfil, and his uncle Marc Willding witnessed a vehicle on fire at a lay‑by near the town on 18 January 2026. In the short time before the car detonated, they pulled nine‑month‑old Lilah and her mother Alex McClean from the burning vehicle, preventing a head‑on explosion. The parents were rescued minutes before the interior of the car burst into flames, a moment captured by GB News footage. Beynon spoke to the network, describing the chaotic scene and his decision to act immediately. The incident drew national attention, as the Welshman saved a child and a mother from what could have been a tragic casualty.
