Helsinki's Billboard Campaign Pushes Pamela Anderson to Embrace Finnish Roots

Helsinki, Finland’s capital, has launched a playful campaign to encourage actress Pamela Anderson to reconnect with her Finnish heritage. The city, through its marketing arm Helsinki Partners, placed three billboard ads on the highway near Ladysmith, a small town on Vancouver Island located about 88 km north of Victoria, calling on Anderson to return to her ancestral roots. In a recent Vogue Scandinavia interview, Anderson revealed her grandfather, Herman Hyytiäinen, whose family name was anglicized to Anderson when he immigrated to Canada in 1908. The campaign, dubbed “Operation Make Pamela a Hyytiäinen,” offers legal name‑change assistance, marriage, or adoption links, and extends an invitation to visit Finland.
