Heated Rivalry Misses Emmy Eligibility

Heated Rivalry, a six‑episode Canadian series that premiered in late November 2025, has exploded online, becoming Crave’s most‑watched original and ranking among HBO Max’s top five scripted debuts in the U.S. The show stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie as rivals‑turned‑lovers, with cameos from François Arnaud and Robbie G.K., and received a film‑fest Actor Award nomination. Despite appearances as presenters at the Golden Globes on Jan. 8 2026, the series cannot qualify for the Primetime Emmys because the Television Academy requires U.S. and foreign co‑production, a condition the Bell Media‑funded show does not meet. It remains eligible for the International Emmys and the Actor Awards, while its success may spur further Canadian projects abroad.
