Gatineau couple found dead in Dominican Republic vacation home
Alain Noël and Christine Sauvé discovered dead on Boxing Day

Alain Noël, 64, and Christine Sauvé, 63, from Gatineau, Quebec, were found dead in their Dominican Republic vacation home on December 26, 2025. Their son discovered the bodies while on a family trip. Sauvé had visited a hospital the day before due to dizziness and was scheduled for additional scans on Boxing Day. Local authorities are investigating the cause of death, with autopsy results expected within 45 days. Christine Sauvé's brother Gilles Sauvé Jr. traveled to the Dominican Republic to handle repatriation of the bodies and obtain death certificates. The couple were described as longtime Gatineau residents and Gatineau Olympiques hockey fans, with Christine being the daughter of the team's former co-owner. Global Affairs Canada confirmed consular assistance is being provided to the family.
